Mountain Air, A Maddening Moth, and Meeting New People!

Today I hiked up a mountain! The blackflies were a biting, and the thought of hungry bears was semi-frightening'..but we kept on hiking.

I hope you still remember me.. my name's Jenna.. I take time to fill you in on my crazy life, and sometimes you feel like reading what I post here? Anything ring a bell?
I have made my reappearance! I have returned!
Back and ready to yack!

So.. what else have I been up to, as of late?
Aside from this little hiking expedition, I recently got back from a school ''Leadership Retreat Conference''.
During this time spent away from  home; I met loads of new people ( YALL ROCK), ate great camp food, played all sorts of interesting games, and even started to plan out events for the upcoming school year.

A few things I learned from this experience

1. Jenna.. when it comes to the High Ropes Course.. face it.. your harness-putting-on-skills, could use a little brushing up :p

2. Embrace your socially awkwardness... yup mhhmm.

3. Contact Lenses are evil.. owyowyow

4. Get outside of your comfort zone more.. it can be pretty worth while

AND NOW FOR A STORY..

. So there was this moth that was just chilling out in our cabin( ASTER) And we all tried to find/put an end to it's itty-bitty insect life.. but it oh-so-magically- VANISHED-right before lights out time. Moths and I, usually get along alright, but when it comes  to falling asleep, with the possible threat of ingesting this creature.. or the idea that it could nestle into your ear for the night.. then moths and this girl, don't hit it off super well.
After an unsuccessful moth hunt, and the age-old trick of turning the room light-off and turning on the porch light.. we all drifted off to sleep. The moth episode became a thing of the past.. until I returned home..and  unzipped my suitcase.. guess what fluttered free?

Overall, the leadership retreat was pretty cool and I'm glad I signed up for the class.
I'm looking forward  to continue to get to know everyone better, make a difference at the high school i attend, and make this school year count!
WEEEOH.

Pirates

There's that pirate ship..
and there's that sound again.
That
hollow
aching
sound.
It sends
me
quivering
shivering
and
wondering..
if they'd
ever
accept me.
The rain drums down,
and the ocean waves beat against the rocks
like a slap to the face.
It's getting wilder out there.
Much
much
wilder.
Should I run back inside?
And
hide?
It's too fascinating..
I'm
a
fish
trapped
in a fishermen's
net.
I
can't
shake
free.
Before I know
it.. I am running out to meet
the waves.
My bare feet
dance
through the
turbulent waters
with
ease.
I'm still unsure
of
what
the pirates
will think
of
me.
I cannot
turn
back now.
There
are
wooden planks beneath
my feet
now.
There's a rusty
nail
bursting forth
and I narrowly
avoid
stepping
on top of
it.
Breathing heavily,
I collapse
into
a
pile
on
the deck.
I am
breathless,
but I am
also
ruthless..
and
feel
oddly at home.

Blackberrisia

PART ONE
A girl
with curls
and missing teeth
left
her
home sweet home.
A girl
with curls
and missing teeth,
was in search of a new home.
Travelling by moonlit streets,
she came across the blackberries.
She stuffed her
face.
Her hands
soon
streaked,
in the ripe
red
sweetness.
Her smile widened
and the
few
teeth she did
have,
although now red,
seemed
brightened.
Blackberrisia..
Blackberrisia.
She heard an owl hoot from its perch
on a
willow tree..
Blackberrisia
Blackberrisia..
The little girl
dived into the
bushes,
not bothering
to swat the thorny
branches
out of her way.
Blackberrisia
Blackberrisia.
She plunged
head first
into this
kingdom.
When she stuck her head out,
to peer about her surroundings..
With a sense
of awe,
mixed with fear..
she released
softly spoken
cheer.
They were Blackberrisians..
kinder than the people of this world,
there were many
of them..
all dressed in green.
And they beckoned to
her
to join them.
Dancing,
dancing.
They sang
the song of the nation.
Blackberrisia
Blackberrisia..
Welcomes Thea!
This little girl
soon forgot..
about the old life
that
she
had
left
far behind her.
She joined these
green-clothed people,
she played a wooden instrument made
from strands of leaves-turned into
gold.
She
dressed
in
hollow
blackberry
shells..
and found herself
new
home sweet
home.
She ate blackberries
for breakfast,
blackberries
for
lunch,
and
blackberries for dinner.
Thea joined Blackberrisia.
Next
time
you go blackberry picking,
see
if you
can
spot
the girl
with curls,
and missing teeth..
Otherwise known
as
Thea.

Family, and Irish Worship Music!

Had a much-needed time with family, up in the northern town of Terrace, BC!
I miss you already...but one must not forget the magic of writing letters ;) waaahoo I'm on it.
On the drive-back home, I discovered some new tunes!

Rend Collective Experiment (long name I know haha.) is an Irish group of Christian musicians.. I've been loving their song ''Build Your Kingdom Here.''
